The first book in the new Council of Wolves series is a riveting paranormal romance that stirs the emotions.

Wolf shifter Tala Daciana knew that the human MacKenzie Frazer was her mate, but to protect him, she's stayed away for years, only visiting once a year when the pain got to be too much. Mac's had enough and takes matters into his own hands and starts a chain of events that will have them fighting for their lives and those of their pack.

The steady-to-fast paced plot keeps readers on the edge of their seats with suspense, action, drama and romance. The author brings the story to life with well written scenes and events which inspire vivid images and capture the imagination. The characters are strong, captivating, easily related to and every member of Tala's pack tugs at the heartstrings and draw the reader deeper into the story. Tensions build throughout the story as Mac learns to control his new wolf and the danger to the pack gets closer and escalates out of control.

The attraction between Tala and Mac burns up the pages with lots of intense passion and the frequent sex scenes explode in a fiery inferno of heat. The romance has a few problems other than the years it's taken to get to where they are now, as Tala is determined they can't be together because of the danger to him. The reader can certainly understand both points of view and admire both for their strength of will.

The author has created a fantastic world full of intriguing characters and some unique elements that inspire curiosity as well as keeping things interesting. I was thoroughly caught up in the story from the very beginning, which starts off pretty intense and only gets better, to the very end, which ends on an intense moment and I can't wait to read the next book.

Mackenzie Frazer has been in love with Tala Daciana for as long as he can remember. When he finally declares his love something strange occurs, causing her to disappear from his life. Mac is left with headaches and a strange tattoo from the outcome of that night, only he can’t remember what happened. Four years later, she reappears in his life, and for two weeks makes all his dreams and hottest fantasies come true only to disappear again.

As good as the wild sex is, after five years of the exact same visits, Mac has had enough. He’s determined the next time Tala knocks on his door he’ll get the answers to all his questions. Only he isn’t sure he’ll survive finding out.

If you like lots of fantasy elements rolled into your paranormal story, then Alpha’s Flame is your sort of book.

The opening had me turning the pages because I wasn’t quite sure what was going on but then a whole world of shape shifting wolves and danger emerged.

The hero, Mackenzie (or Mac), is very likeable from the beginning. In fact, you’re pulling for him rather than Tala, the heroine, when they first come together in this story. They have a history and that’s what drives the first third of this book. . There’s lots of passion, sexual tension, and yes, hot sex scenes in Alpha’s Flame.

Ms. Turner slowly reveals the character of Tala,  who she is and why she’s been visiting Mac over the years. Suddenly you start cheering her on too. This story is part adventure, part fantasy with lots of well-drawn characters thrown into the mix. Mac’s transformation into wolf is one of the best parts and well described. The dialogue is very natural sounding and the make believe world is one that I could picture in my mind.

There are also some other paranormal creatures in the story too, and I assume by the ending and the sub-title Council of Wolves, Ms. Turner intends to continue with the story line. I hope so because I’d like to see where she takes some of this story threads next.

Review:Tala and Mac have been in love since they were five years old sharing a school playground. The love has only intensified over the years, but the problem is Tala is a wolf shifter and Mac is human. He vows to have her for his own, but that decision brings the wrath of her father and all the shifters in Texas down upon them.

The sex is hot, the battles are bloody, and the makeshift pack Tala leads is headed for trouble. Tala has to decide what is important in her life, and then fight for it, while Mac has to follow his mate everywhere and hope they are strong enough together to take care of business and each other long enough to have a life together.

Alpha’s Flame has lots of conflict, lots of decision making, a hero’s journey that is both physical and mental for Mac, as his mate stands up for him in the shifter world. Interesting concept for a story and if there is such a thing, a heaven for underdogs, or should that be undershifters?

REVIEW RATING: 5 STARS

To be completely honest, when I first picked up this book to write a review for the author I didn't know whether or no I would ever be able to get into it. Not because it might have been a horrible book, but because I haven’t been able to actually get into a book for months now. Yet, everything changed when I started reading Alpha’s Flame.

Mac has been in love with Tala possibly his entire life. Finally, when he summons the courage to declare his love for her, Tala disappears. But then Tala returns… four years later. This story goes far beyond crazy hot sex and extreme sexual tension. Each time I stopped reading, it dug its claws into my skin until I could no longer pull away.

I was drawn into Tala and Mac’s world. Turner was able to create a world for these two characters that is like no other. I was drawn by the attraction they had for one another. Alpha’s Flame isn’t your typical romance novel. Turner made sure that this one would be different; and it is.

I have read books that are slow paced and take a while to actually be able to get into it. However, this book gripped me from the beginning. Along with very thorough character development, this story had a really strong plot and no loose ends.

Unlike other books I have read in one sitting, I was glad that I took my time with it. Even so, I’m begging for more.

"Alpha's Flame" is a supernatural romance worth reading. Turner's characters are strong minded, which is refreshing after the recent wave of 'do whatever you want with/to/for me' characters in other romances of this genre.

Tala and Mac Are a fearsome couple, not only because of the obvious chemistry between them, but also for their fierce loyalty towards each other and their lack of hesitance to break established roles.

What I love about the world Turner has created is the mix of tradition and originality in her supernatural world. Sure there are werewolves, shifters and vampires... But they're certainly not what you've come to expect.

This is a book to gulp down quickly, and then beg for more. While waiting for the next book in this series to come out, I strongly suggest reading her debut novel, "Cookies and Cream" another playful romp in the supernatural world.

Erotic Paranormal/Werewolf Romance

Tala Daciana is a werewolf… and so much more. Unlike other werewolves, Tala has special gifts that only alphas are supposed to have. When she was seventeen she lost control of her wolf during her first time having sex and bit Mac, a human she has known and cared about her whole life. This action changed her life forever, forcing her to run along with the two men she has always considered her brothers.

MacKenzie (Mac) Frazer has loved Tala his entire life. Ever since he tried to protect her from being bullied by some boys when they were both five years old, Tala has always enchanted him. However, when they were seventeen that all changed, the enchantment was still there the first time they had sex together, but it also changed the dynamics of their relationship and not necessarily for the better, at least at first.

There is a part of Mac that is furious with Tala and has been for years. Ever since they had sex when they were seventeen, Mac has had terrible headaches and a strange tattoo on his wrist. Some of his pain is alleviated when Tala begins making visits to him, visits that involve them having explosive sex. But…it does not seem to mean the same thing to Tala that it does to him because once the sex is over, Tala disappears, sometimes for a year or more at a time. Each time she returns, they have explosive sex again, and then Tala leaves again. However, this time Mac has decided it is going to be different, this time he is not going to allow Tala to just walk away. You see, he has been doing some research in classified government files, and he believes he has discovered Tala’s secret, that she is a werewolf and that he is her mate. This time he decides he is going to take matters into his own hands. Only he has no idea that his actions will set in motion events that could cause not only his own death, but Tala’s and everyone that she is trying to protect as well. Will Mac and Tala be able to stay alive and protect those they care most for? Or will their enemies win?

Wow! Alpha’s Flame is one of the best werewolf romances I have read in a very long time. The world building is extraordinary and very different from most werewolf romances. I really liked how the author was able to keep me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. At no time was I able to figure out what was going on until the very end. That does not happen often. The love scenes are scorching and let us just say that I missed a few hours of sleep between this and the great storyline itself. I loved the punch line which for obvious reasons I will not state here as it would be a spoiler, but it leads into the next book and I for one cannot wait. Just let me say that the punch line is a doozy and makes this book well worth reading. If you want to read a really stellar and unique werewolf romance then I highly recommend Alpha’s Flame by Antoinette Turner. Pick up your copy today you will not be sorry!
